Review on The Huntsman Inn
Widely regarded as one of Galway's most impressive hostelries, the Huntsman is a good-looking inn festooned with hanging baskets, just a stroll from the city centre. Inside it is exceedingly capacious, with a long bar, polished wood floors and well-spaced tables.
At lunchtime, the kitchen delivers tapas, salads and wraps plus a few filling hot dishes like lasagne or shepherd's pie with honey-roast vegetables. Evening meals move up a notch with a crowd-pleasing selection of international favourites including vegetable spring rolls with sweet-and-sour dip, grilled sea bass with red pepper ragout, shallot and basil mash or chicken fajitas with tomato salsa and sour cream. Finish with something sweet-toothed like apple pie or sticky toffee pudding.
There's funky live jazz on Thursday evenings, Sunday lunch is a family affair, and the inn has 12 smart letting rooms for those who want to stay over.
