Review on Pier 17
At the far end of historic Albert Pier, with dazzling views of the Fish Quay, Castle Cornet and the lighthouse, formerly known as Saltwater Restaurant, Pier 17 lives up to its name and makes plentiful use of the catch from the local boats.
It's a pleasantly run, contemporary venue equally popular for long, lazy lunches and romantic suppers. Hot and cold platters of piscine delights are stars of the show and you are welcome to 'build-your-own' from the choice of shellfish and crustacea on offer; alternatively, try one of the seafood classics such as lobster Thermidor, Chancre crab salad or grilled lemon sole.
The rest of the menu trawls its way through Thai-style fishcakes, chicken liver and foie gras parfait, roast rack of lamb and seared calf's liver with crispy pancetta, mash and onion gravy, and concludes with – say – rich chocolate tart. France is the main contender on the carefully sourced wine list, although the rest of the world isn't neglected.
