Review on The Cricketers
The name Hartley Wintney was recorded in the thirteenth century as Hertleye Wynteneye, which means 'the clearing in the forest where the deer graze by Winta's island' - an evocative description of a Hampshire village where the country lifestyle is so sought after and appreciated.
Situated in a beautiful location opposite the second oldest cricket green in England (circa 1770), The Cricketers is a perfect place to stop while travelling on the A30 to or from London. Enjoy regional French food inside the cosy restaurant, or take advantage of their diverse bar menu and have the food served at your table outside while enjoying the view soaking up the atmosphere of one of England's greatest games.
Alternatively, if the fast-paced life on the common is too much, you can always take advantage of a delightful secluded garden where, when the sun comes out, you can be sure that the BBQ will be in operation.
