Review on Saltys Bar & Restaurant
Right by Yarmouth harbourside, Saltys doubles as a lively bar and fine-dining restaurant, with the emphasis firmly on locally landed seafood. The owners have their own fishing boat, which provides the kitchen with crabs and lobsters; otherwise, the range might extend to oysters, mussels, sardines and Dover sole.
The dining room is on the first floor, and visitors can look forward to a lively menu that might kick off with salmon fishcakes and sorrel sauce or herb-crusted rare seared beef with rocket and Parmesan, ahead of monkfish on watercress mash, line-caught sea bass with braised Little Gems and red wine sauce, herb-crusted rack of Welsh lamb or Dexter sirloin steak with Café de Paris butter.
If you prefer something more casual, the ground-floor bar has a choice of food running from moules with frites and bangers and mash to sticky toffee pudding. There's live entertainment on Saturday nights during the summer season. Note that opening hours may be restricted in winter.
