Review on Edenwater House
The setting is an old stone manse in a tiny hamlet near Kelso where Jacqui and Jeff Kelly run Edenwater House, a renowned restaurant with rooms. Jeff takes care of visitors' wellbeing front of house while Jacqui keeps busy in the kitchen.
Discuss any special dietary requirements when you make your reservation because dinner is a no choice four-course affair. Typically you may start with seared scallops and foie gras with mange tout, balsamic and chilli vinaigrette, and coriander sauce before moving onto breast of guinea fowl stuffed with tarragon mousseline, wrapped in Parma ham and roasted served with braised leeks, stuffed mushrooms, Pommes Anna and the natural jus. A savoury third course might be something like twice baked Roquefort soufflé with mixed leaves, Muscat grapes and pecan nuts before a dessert which could be perhaps a terrine of mango and tropical fruits, coconut ice cream and pineapple sauce.
The restaurant is open to non-residents but booking is essential.
