Review on Ednam House Hotel
Ednam House Hotel in Kelso has been owned and run by the Brooks family since 1928 and this impressive Georgian residence has an air of genuine civilised conviviality – thanks to their hard work and careful stewardship.
The hotel stands right by the banks of the Tweed and it's a great favourite with anglers, who come to try their luck on the waters. The bar has a strong fishing theme, and there a fine views of the gardens and the river from the spacious dining room.
Scottish produce fares well on the menu, which works its way through salmon fishcakes with parsley butter sauce, local haggis with neeps and stovies, casseroled Highland venison with fresh tagliatelle and Tweed Valley rack of lamb with gratin dauphinois and rosemary gravy. Homemade puddings, ice creams and sorbets conclude proceedings.
