Review on William IV Bar Restaurant
At first glance the William IV may remind some people of a Victorian boozer, but this roadside hostelry now runs along as a twenty-first-century gastropub/bar/restaurant with five distinct eating and drinking areas. A long wooden counter displays handpumps, there are armchairs and sofas to relax in, and the big garden is a major attraction during fine weather.
The kitchen sources local ingredients for its classic and modern European menu which could feature starters such as duck spring rolls with hoi sin sauce or a meze platter with hummus, tzatziki, pitta bread and olives. Main courses take in grilled 10oz ribeye steak served with mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and hand cut chips or jerk chicken or pork, slow roasted with pimento and spices with hand cut chips and home made coleslaw. To finish there are traditional desserts of sticky toffee pudding or apple and berry crumble with vanilla ice cream.
