Review on Murphy Blacks
Cillian Murphy and Mary Redmond's thriving neighbourhood restaurant occupies the shell of an old Victorian inn, and many of the building's original features are still intact. By contrast, the food has more modern leanings and the kitchen buys wisely. Cillian himself used to skipper a fishing boat, so it's not surprising that seafood is the main business of the day.
Fresh supplies dictate what the kitchen can offer, whether it's Carrigaholt crab claws with garlic butter, scallops wrapped in Parma ham or stuffed plaice baked in cream sauce. There are steaks and rack of lamb for meat eaters, plus familiar desserts to round things off.
