Review on Killeen House Hotel, Rozzers
Built as a rectory in 1838, this delightful house a short drive from Killarney is now a 'charming little hotel' - thanks to dedication and personal hospitality generated by Michael and Geraldine Rosney. Killeen House recently underwent a major renovation, with many new bedrooms and additional facilities.
Evening meals are served in the pleasing surroundings of Rozzers restaurant, where chef Paul O'Gorman makes admirable use of local produce for his European-biased menu. Oysters and lobsters are kept in the hotel's own saltwater tank and seafood also appears in dishes such as medallions of monkfish on a spinach and spring onion rösti with hollandaise and three bean dressing.
Other dishes worth noting are open ravioli of wild mushrooms and asparagus spears, roast rack of Kerry lamb topped with pesto fondue, and desserts such as pecan and chocolate fudge pudding with chocolate marshmallow sauce.
