Review on Signal Restaurant at The Station House Hotel
In 1981, almost 20 years after the last train stopped at Kilmessan, Chris and Thelma Slattery rescued this pretty railway station from extinction and have given it a new lease of life as a delightful hotel.
Accommodation is spread across the old engine shed, signal box and waiting room, with the remains of the platform outside the door and twelve acres of grounds to relax in. Meals are served in the cosy Signal Restaurant, which is noted for its jazz Sunday lunches. Otherwise, the kitchen offers sound international cooking along the lines of sea bass with asparagus sauce and braised veal chop with spinach.
