Review on Jamie's Italian
Jamie's Italian was originally founded in Oxford Street in 2008, since then the concept has rolled out all over the UK, with the third branch of this hugely popular chain opening in Kingston upon Thames in November 2008. Just a few steps from the River Thames and opposite the acclaimed Rose Theatre, it is also ideally placed close to the shopping centre.
Ingredients are carefully sourced from first-rate bespoke suppliers for the menu showcasing authentic rustic Italian dishes including antipasti planks, freshly made pasta and signature meat and fish dishes. So expect fried squid with garlicky mayo, lemon and chilli or a plate of cured meats including fennel salami, pistachio mortadella, prosciutto and schiacciata piccante. Following on you could choose a main course of wild rabbit tagliolini, slow-cooked ragů with garlic and herbs, mascarpone and lemon, or maybe baked sustainable cod with spring vegetable stew, pancetta, Roman fried artichokes, crostini and lemony Yeo Valley yoghurt dressing. There's a concise vegetarian menu and children also have their own menu in this family orientated restaurant. To finish who could resist the epic brownie, a warm fudgy brownie with amaretto ice cream and caramelised amaretti popcorn or maybe the tutti frutti lemon meringue pie with Limoncello and crunchy pistachio brittle.
There's a well chosen Italian wine list with many available by the glass or carafe, together with tasty cocktails such as Florence Fizz, Limoncello, pomegranate juice, elderflower cordial and Prosecco. To locate a branch near you check out their website for further details.
