Review on Gleddoch Hotel & Spa, Vista Restaurant

Set in a 360-acre estate high above the River Clyde with spectacular views across to Ben Lomond, this historic house was once the residence of Scottish shipping magnate Sir William Lithgow. These days it keeps up appearances with excellent facilities for sporting and business types.

In the elegant Vista Restaurant you can sample capably executed modern dishes like seared scallops on leek and shallot conserve with Vermouth, chive and Pernod sauce, grilled lamb cutlets topped with spinach and mushroom duxelle, gazed with hollandaise and served on Arran mustard sauce, followed by white chocolate and heather honey torte on a blackberry sauce with orange 'fillets'. The wine list is strong on vintage clarets and Burgundies.

    Afternoon Tea for Mother's 80th

My daughter's, friend and I, took my mother for an afternoon tea for her 80th, and it was lovely. The view of the golf course and grounds, were beautiful. It was a lovely setting to sit and relax, and enjoy the food.

The food was well prepared and presented, fresh soft sandwiches with plenty of different fillings to choose from. There was also plenty of scones and cakes to choose from too. And not forgetting Champagne for my mother! Service was excellent.

    Restaurant/food

I visited Gleddoch house at the beginning of february, the restaurant was dated, no atmosphere and smell from the kitchen should have said it all however we were guests at the hotel and ate at the restaurant, food was tasteless, bland and wasn't consumable. breakfast wasn't much better.
