Review on Posada de la Villa
La Posada de la Villa can be found in the heart of Madrid's La Latina district. As its name suggests, the restaurant is located in an authentic posada ' a traditional inn ' dating back to 1642. La Posada still retains its traditional style and its seats are carved with the names of some of those that have dined on the excellent food in this restaurant. The menu offers traditional Madrid cuisine based on timeless recipes and cooking styles. Specialities include suckling lamb roasted in an earthenware dish in the old Arab oven; 'cocido madrileño', the three-course meat and chickpea stew made in a clay stewpot; Madrid-style tripe; chicken 'pepitoria', traditionally made with almonds and egg yolk, or the exquisite desserts that are typical of this capital city. There is also an extensive wine list with more than 175 wines as well as a good selection of cigars. Over the years La Posada de la Villa has seen the famous and infamous pass through its doors and it continues to be popular.
