Review on The Bon Restaurant & Wine Bar
A veteran of the Leeds restaurant scene, The Bon, formerly called Bon Viveur has been pulling in the crowds for more than three decades. Opened in 1972, it occupies an historic building in the suburb of Sherburn in Elmet, and still shows its age with low ceilings and exposed timbers.
This is a newly refurbished modern contemporary interior delightfully mixed with old-fashioned features and is a sophisticated setting for International food with a few sunny Mediterranean flourishes. Staples such as coq au vin, herb-crusted rack of lamb and duck with orange sauce are supplemented by scallop and monkfish brochettes on Parmesan risotto, honey-roast belly pork on bacon and thyme mash with black pudding and mustard sauce. Lobster is a seasonal speciality, and there's a trolley-load of desserts to round things off.
