Review on The Restaurant Bar & Grill
Like its parent establishment in Manchester, this branch of Restaurant Bar & Grill is as trendily modern as can be, and it shows off its good looks and style with glass partitions, black leather chairs and floor-to-ceiling windows for viewing the action. The landmark Old Post Office building has been transformed into a vast open space with an imposing cocktail bar and a shared mezzo table, plus an open-plan kitchen.
The menu is an eclectic mix of fusion, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern ideas that look the business on the plate. Thai prawn cakes with chilli dipping sauce might open the show alongside fresh asparagus with poached egg and hollandaise sauce, while main courses could feature colourful ideas such as spicy shrimp risotto, Thai green chicken curry, lamb tagine with lemon couscous and char-grilled burgers. Finish off with, say, baked New York-style cheesecake or Malteser ice cream. Mezze and Asian 'plates' are available to share, sandwiches are served from 12.00 - 6.00pm and the wine list has a good choice of quaffable stuff at realistic prices.
