Review on Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa
A state-of-the-art spa and pool is just one of the attractions at this sophisticated purpose-built hotel just north of the city, within easy reach of the motorway network.
The stunning internal courtyard, in French limestone, is a natural centrepiece with a stunning glass atrium allowing daylight to flood in. Light meals are served here throughout the day.
There's also a sunny Mediterranean feel to the contemporary open-plan restaurant, which boasts lots of light wood and leather fittings. The kitchen delivers a range of modern European dishes with some noticeable Italian influences. Crispy belly pork with wild rocket salad and ratatouille chutney, confit of Nidderdale lamb with beetroot Tatin and haricot beans, and fillet of wild sea bass with roasted red pepper and seared spicy squid are typical.
Also expect a few old favourites from nearer home such as Yorkshire game terrine with Cumberland sauce, and calf's liver with Wenselydale bacon and creamy mash, while desserts could include anything from warm treacle tart to tiramisù.
