Review on Fishers in Leith
A one-time pub on the Leith waterfront at the base of the old signal tower, Fishers comprises a dark bustling bar and a lighter, more subdued restaurant overlooking the shore. For the last 20 years, seafood has been the main business here.
Lovers of unadorned fish dishes might plump for a bowl of piscine soup, a chilled seafood platter or hot-smoked salmon Caesar salad. Those who fancy something a bit more challenging could set their sights on baked dressed crab stuffed with Mozzarella and char-grilled artichokes or Isle of Barra scallops topped with smoked haddock Welsh rarebit.
Meat lovers have options such as pan-fried loin of lamb on roast pepper and pistachio mash or marinated breast of duck served on a salad of pak choi, peanuts, chillies and shiitake mushrooms, while desserts could include chocolate and banana parfait with banana sauce.
The wine list is a goodie, with lots of interesting stuff from around the globe and some additional fine wines mainly from Burgundy. It's all very fish friendly.
