Review on The Lerwick Hotel, The Bay Brasserie
Standing right on the shoreline with unrivalled open views of Breiwick Bay and the Isle of Bressay, this modern well-equipped hotel is also a short stroll from Lerwick town centre. What was the Seafood Restaurant recently morphed into a more broadly based Brasserie operation with an easy-going international menu.
Typical starters might range from Shetland mussels with saffron and cream to poached William pear with balsamic sorbet, while mains could take in spiced blackened chicken with pineapple, confit of duck, loin of pork with peaches and mixed Thai fish with mango, not forgetting char-grilled steaks. Home-cured salt beef salad is a firm favourite, while desserts might take in anything from apple pie to white chocolate and passion fruit mousse.
