Review on HKK
HKK opened its doors in December 2012, the latest restaurant from the critically acclaimed global Hakkasan restaurant group, located in the heart of the fashionable City fringe, a short walk from Liverpool Street Station. With a sleek minimalist décor in tones of blue and grey, the interiors have been developed by the group's in-house design team, featuring a partial open-kitchen with a custom-made glass fired oven.
Executive chef is the talented Tong Chee Hwee who has plied his trade at a number of the groups restaurants over the years, including Hakkasan in Soho where he gained a Michelin star. The kitchen showcases just two tasting menus of eight or fifteen courses consisting of the finest modern Chinese and Cantonese delicacies. Diners can look forward to meticulously crafted food using natural ingredients to develop rich, distinct flavours and textures.
Enjoy artfully displayed dishes such as lychee wood roasted Peking duck, crispy suckling pig, black pepper sauce, steamed razor clam with chilli, mui-choi glutinous rice or maybe charcoal grilled lamb in Sha-Cha sauce. Close the show with a dessert of lychee tapioca, passion chiboust and passion jam or pineapple fritter, salted lime jelly and vanilla ice cream.
Attentive, confident service and an excellent wine list round off this polished addition to the City's dining scene. Congratulations to HKK for receiving a coveted Michelin star in the 2014 edition of the Guide.
