Review on Osborne House
A sumptuously restored Victorian residence close to Llandudno seafront, Osborne House is old-school luxury personified with huge rooms extending length of the building, a wealth of rich fabrics and Roman-style columns.
Osborne's Café & Grill may conjure up images of contemporary minimalism: instead, it's a riot of opulent drapes, sparkling crystal chandeliers, gilt-edged mirrors and original canvases. It makes a romantic – but informal – backdrop for all-day food with an eclectic modern slant.
The kitchen roams around the world, stopping off for potted shrimps, lamb kebabs with mint and yoghurt dressing, grilled sea bass with couscous, and Conwy lamb shank with ratatouille and basil. There's also a choice of grills, plus a slate of desserts along the lines of dark chocolate marquise with kumquat compote. The global wine list is easy on the wallet.
