Review on Terrace Restaurant, St George's Hotel
A stately testament to grandiose Victorian elegance by the seaside, St George's Hotel stands proud on Llandudno Promenade, with gorgeous views looking out across the bay. Built in 1854, it proudly boasts that it has been visited by no fewer than seven prime minsters during its 150-year history.
Today's guests can enjoy fine food in the elegant, contemporary-style Terrace Restaurant, where the dinner menus shows off plenty of Welsh produce. Most dishes have a European slant, thus cold poached mackerel might be served with red pepper dressing and Avruga caviar, while cannon of Conwy lamb and confit shoulder could be partnered by parsnip purée and wild mushroom cream. Elsewhere, expect butter-poached fillet of turbot with rocket and bacon risotto and sweetcorn foam, seared sirloin of Welsh Black fillet with baked pumpkin tart, and desserts along the lines of rum pannacotta with raspberry curd and garibaldi biscuits.
