Review on The Brackenborough
Idyllically situated just outside the historic town of Louth, the Brackenborough hotel and restaurant remains a popular local destination with a warm, personal style and a flexible attitude towards food - not to mention splendid views of the surrounding Lincolnshire Wolds.
Exciting modern food is served in the casually named Bistro Bar, and the kitchen aims high. Starters of beef carpaccio or poppy-seed encrusted sea bass with mango salsa might precede roast sirloin of Angus beef with root vegetable purée and braised Irish cabbage or seared fillet of halibut with confit potatoes, tomato concasse and clam beurre blanc.
You could finish in traditional style with steamed treacle sponge or try something like individual Baileys and Mascarpone cheesecake. Expertly sourced real ales are matched by a wine list courtesy of Corney & Barrow. Wine tasting events are a regular feature.
