Review on Scala Restaurant

The Scala Restaurant is the gourmet restaurant of the classic Art Deco Hotel Montana which opened in 1910, right by the Lake Lucerne. The restaurant has an elegant décor and because of its elevated position, has the most beautiful views from the windows of the lake and the Swiss Alps. The stucco decoration, ornaments and parquet floor are all original and the unique interior of the chimney part of the restaurant, with its classical reliefs has been completely renovated and resembles a Greek temple. Images of the dancers of Kallimachos, as well as the Greek gods Dionysos and Pan are also portrayed.

The restaurant has been awarded 15 points in the prestigious Gault Millau guide. Head chef is Johan Breedijk who makes good use of local produce for his creative Mediterranean cuisine. There is an excellent international wine list which includes about 30 offerings by the glass. During the summer months there is a lovely terrace with palm trees for al fresco dining.

The Louis Bar & Hazy Lounge, named after the legendary jazz trumpeter, Louis Armstrong offers the allure of jazz and more than 80 different Scottish classic malts.
