Review on The Angel & Blue Pig
Set in the pretty coastal town of Lymington in Hampshire, The Angel & Blue Pig has been welcoming guests in one form or another since the 13th Century. Inside you will find plenty of nooks and crannies with cosy armchairs and log fires in winter, brass topped tables and exposed brick walls, with an inviting terrace when the sun shines.
The kitchen presses all the right buttons when it comes to local sourcing and seasonality, with daily changing specials alongside their monthly menu. Among the list of starters you might find fresh British mussels cooked in a creamy shallot and white wine sauce served with bread or The Angel & Blue Pig's marinated duck skewers with cucumber yoghurt and mixed leaves. For a main course they have an excellent range of steaks cooked perfectly on the Josper grill or there's grilled sea bass fillet with parmentiere potatoes, sautéed with lardons, olives and spinach, served with a lemon burre blanc. When it comes to desserts you might see sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream or lemongrass crème brulee with homemade shortbread.
The wine list offers plenty of choice with options available by the glass and there's also Ringwood ales from the local brewery as well as a cocktail menu. The Angel & Pig also has accommodation if you decide to linger and explore the area.
