Review on Marriott Worsley Park Hotel, The Dining Rooms
Set in 200 acres of grounds, Worsley Park was constructed around restored Victorian farm buildings, and it now functions as a hotel and country club with top-flight facilities including a championship golf course.
The Dining Rooms (formerly Brindley's Restaurant) is the hotel's main eating venue, a stylish split-level space offering a menu of true-Brit food based on locally sourced ingredients. Here you will find seared scallops with Bury black pudding and mustard dressing, Goosnargh chicken with garlic-crushed celeriac and port sauce, rack of free-range pork and fillet of Pennines beef with colcannon and fine beans.
Fish pies are made with organic cod, salmon and a topping of Mrs Kirkham's cheese gratin, while desserts could run to warm treacle tart, sherry trifle or gingerbread and chocolate mousse with cherry syrup. More informal meals are served in Spikes Bar, the Chimney Lounge and the Terrace Brasserie.
