Review on Sixtyone Restaurant
Chef patron Arnaud Stevens in partnership with Searcys opened Sixtyone Restaurant in November 2013 set within the Montcalm Hotel, a short walk from Hyde Park, shopping at Oxford Street and Marble Arch Underground Station. Access is either through the hotel's lobby or the restaurant has its own entrance on Upper Berkeley Street. Inside it has been tastefully done out in chic neutral tones embellished with warm bronze and copper light features, exuding a sophisticated yet relaxed ambience.
Arnaud Stevens has a fine pedigree, having spent several years cooking in top London venues such as Gordon Ramsey's Maze Grill, the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden and the Gherkin. Menus change regularly according to the seasons and impeccable ingredients are sourced from artisan suppliers. Open your account with octopus carpaccio, red pepper confit, sorrel and sesame before a main course of roast Herdwick mutton loin, wild garlic and Jersey pearls or for fish lovers there's slow cooked sea bream, carrots, walnuts and grapefruit. Skilfully wrought desserts close the show with lemon meringue pie or maybe choose the banoffee parfait.
A well-researched wine list offers plenty of choice across the globe and knowledgeable service accompanies impeccable dishes.
