Review on Hawksmoor Air Street
Hawksmoor Air Street is the fourth restaurant in this successful brand of steakhouses owned by Will Beckett and Huw Gott. Located on the former site of Bruno Loubet's L'Odeon with its entrance on Air Street between Piccadilly and Regent Street, it is handily placed for the nearby West End theatres. Architects for Hawksmoor Seven Dials and Guildhall's interiors, Macaulay Sinclair were also commissioned for the 235 seater Air Street branch using reclaimed materials throughout. The Art Deco room, reminiscent of an upscale gentlemen's club is a very smart affair, with wood-panelled and leather upholstery and ten specially commissioned stained and etched glass windows.
Unlike the other three restaurants, Hawksmoor Air Street have incorporated an equally balanced seafood menu into its repertoire and have teamed up Mitch Tonks of the acclaimed Seahorse Restaurant in Dartmouth to help create the new dishes. As well as the succulent steaks sourced from Longhorn cattle traditionally reared in North Yorkshire by multi-award winners The Ginger Pig, you can expect to see ultra-fresh seafood straight from Brixham Market, grilled simply over charcoal, together with a large selection of shellfish. Traditional desserts are on offer in the shape of a sticky toffee pudding or plum and Bramley apple pie.
In addition to the restaurant, there is a great 50-cover cocktail bar, a destination in itself and they will operate a 'toddy timetable' serving well-crafted cocktails suitable for different times of the day.
