Review on The Grill at Stanley House
The Grill at Stanley House is the signature restaurant located in the 17th century Stanley House Hotel which is set in fifty-four acres of Ribble Valley countryside, just outside the Lancashire village of Mellor. With a rich blackberry and purple décor the dining room is very smart looking out over the beautifully manicured lawns and gardens, with views beyond to the Fylde Coast.
The kitchen is passionate when it comes to the ingredients for a grill-led menu that is keen to utilise the abundance of regional supplies available on their doorstep. There is an eclectic mix of great British favourites together with traditional classic French dishes. Amongst the starters look for eggs Benedict or soufflé suissesse, artisan cheese sauce, and chives. For main courses there is a variety of steaks from Burholme Farm in the Forest of Bowland, grass fed and dry aged on the bone for 28 days, lobster thermidor or rabbit pie. While desserts offer satisfaction as in a tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream or rice pudding soufflé and raspberry ripple ice cream.
There is a new wine list courtesy of Corney and Barrow who are the royal warrant holders for the Her Majesty the Queen and the Prince of Wales, together with a range of Continental beers and Frobisher natural fruit juices.
For a more casual dining experience there is the fabulous all glass restaurant and sun terrace of Mr Fred's, serving classic British food.
