Review on Meisgyn Restaurant at Miskin Manor
Etched with centuries of history, Miskin Manor can trace its roots back to early medieval times (with records as early as 1110). It still puts on a grand and stunning show, impressively set amid 22 acres of glorious grounds - although it's less than a mile from the M4 west of Cardiff.
Pride of place goes to the atmospheric Meisgyn Restaurant, a marvellous oak-panelled dining room with an ornate ceiling and superb views of the pristine grounds and manicured lawns. The kitchen delivers a fine range of dishes, from hearty soups and home-smoked salmon to freshly churned ice creams and peanut fudge. In between, expect Gower scallops with orange, buttered samphire and Welsh black pudding, Szechuan-peppered duck with crushed parsnip, gooseberry and red wine sauce, and glazed lemon tart with Lady Grey tea ice cream and green cardamom caramel.
