Review on Nante Eck
Travel back in time to 1900. The Nante Eck has little pictures on its walls, beautiful upholstered couches, candlelit tables, historic-looking light fixtures, flowers and slate boards presenting a choice of daily specials. The food goes down well with tourists and locals. The restaurant offers a choice of good traditional local food such as Schmalzstulle (a type of bread with dripping), Berliner Kalbsleber (calf's liver) with port wine sauce and Schinkeneisbein (a type of pickled knuckle of pork). The staff are friendly and wear shirts, bow ties, aprons and braces. In the summer sit out on the terrace and watch people go by on Berlin's Unter den Linden. The menu is designed to look like a newspaper, which is a nice touch, and the choice of wine is excellent.
