Review on Big Mussel
The founder member of a mini-chain offering mussels every-which-way and authentic Belgian food backed up by a range of Belgian beers traditionally served with their own exclusive glass.
Mussels are the undoubted stars of the show and come in different styles such as Classic with garlic, white onion, white wine and cream, Thai with chilli, lemongrass, garlic, coriander and coconut or Bloody Mary with vodka, tomato and celery for example. There's plenty more for fans of seafood with king prawns fried in tempura batter, halibut steaks are oven baked with herb butter and crayfish stuffed tomato, while scallops come with with black pudding, potato cake, roasted vegetables and mustard dressing.
Pasta is another option, and there is plenty for meat eaters, including chicken Kiev, hefty mixed grills featuring lamb steak, sirloin steak, pork chop, sausage, black pudding, mushrooms, tomato and chips and pan-seared duck breast with orange marmalade, butternut squash and celeriac mash with honey glaze jus, plus desserts such as English summer pudding classic with lemon cream – not forgetting sweet Belgian waffles.
