Review on Burrendale Hotel, Vine Restaurant
The majestic Mourne Mountains provide a suitably awesome backdrop for this well-maintained hotel and country club, which also makes the most of views out towards the Irish Sea; it's also within striking distance of the Royal County Down championship golf course.
Dinner and Sunday lunch are served in the classic surroundings of the Vine Restaurant, where the European-style menu offers the likes of chicken and leek terrine, roast rack of Irish lamb on a ragoût of rosemary, garlic and potato, and fillet of sea bass with a gâteau of creamed celeriac and a tomato and citrus vinaigrette.
Alternatively, the bistro-style Cottage Kitchen provides more informal meals (including breakfast) throughout the week – and there's no need to book.
