Review on Juboraj Restaurant
One of a growing mini-chain of Indian restaurants, the Newport branch of Juboraj occupies unassuming site just off the Cardiff Road to the south of the town. Despite the ordinary frontage, the interior is all clean lines and contemporary chic (not a panel of flock wallpaper in sight).
The menu offers a full quota of tandooris, dhansaks, bhunas and biryanis, supplemented by some more intriguing chef's specialities. Look for jamdhani haash (breast of duck cooked in light spices with honey and lime juice) or lamb cutlets marinated with native Bengali citrus fruit, crushed garlic and chilli. Good choice of vegetable side dishes, rice and breads, too.
There are currently four branches across Cardiff (see Juboraj website for details), as well as a further outlet in Swansea.
