Review on Warwick St Social
In the heart of Norwich's upwardly mobile 'Golden Triangle' not far from the University, Warwick St Social formerly known as the Mad Moose opened its doors in May 2016. Related to The Wildebeest Arms at Stoke Holy Cross, it bills itself as an urban meeting place for breakfast, casual daytime dining and dinnertime get-togethers. Spread over two floors the interiors have been designed by by Kathryn Mazure-Hudson, with an outside Terrace that is sure to be a big draw during the summer months.
WSS has commissioned Chef Patron Daniel Smith to create the seasonal menu of classic dishes with a modern twist, with fruit and vegetables supplied from their own farm. Kicking off with breakfast through to lunch and dinner, the kitchen makes its own bread and ice cream on site. The menu offers a good selection of small plates, ideal for sharing or to choose as a starter such as sautéed cod cheeks, wild garlic aioli and roasted lemon or tikka curried chicken thigh skewer with basil yoghurt and crispy onion bhaji. Main courses follow with pan roasted stone bass fillet with roast ratatouille, garlic crevette prawns and saffron potatoes or Barnsley lamb chop with red pepper and basil pesto, harissa crushed sweet potato, tender stem broccoli and Merlot pan juices. To finish there's a warm almond and raspberry Bakewell tart with raspberry sorbet or chocolate nemesis, honey comb salted caramel purée with vanilla ice cream.
In the downstairs bar you can order cocktails, beers and ciders as well wine with options available by the glass, bottle and jug.
