Review on Crème Restaurant
'Elegant tranquillity' is the design theme behind this fashionable modern restaurant on the outskirts of Nottingham. One Mobile Food Guide reporter thought Crème was 'excellent in every way', and the place has picked up several awards since opening its doors in 2004.
The kitchen specialises in contemporary dishes with a seasonal slant, and most of its inspiration comes from France and the Med. To begin, there might be seared diver scallop with cauliflower purée and apple jelly or carpaccio of beef fillet with sweet creamed horseradish and crispy carrot. Main courses pick up the theme, with the likes of pan-fried halibut accompanied by cod brandade, asparagus, braised fennel, ceps and Madeira jus or calf's liver with paprika on potato hash brown with creamed leeks, port and shallot veal jus.
Fixed-price menus are offered at lunchtime: you can call in for just one course or treat yourself to the full works – from confit of duck rillettes to Baileys bread-and-butter pudding.
