Review on Quod Restaurant & Bar
Attached to Oxford's Old Bank Hotel, Quod Restaurant and Bar occupies a cleverly converted Georgian banking hall complete with stunning displays of eye-catching contemporary art, a massive oval zinc bar, stone floors and well-spaced wooden tables. There are great views of the University Church, All Souls College and the Radcliffe Camera from its beautiful wooden arched windows.
This is an all-day, child-friendly venue that starts feeding the crowds and breakfast time and runs through from light lunches and afternoon teas to much-sought-after evening meals. Classic steaks with frites and jazzy pizzas share the billing with a mixed bag of modern brasserie-style dishes, including ham hock terrine with red onion marmalade, herb-crusted roast hake with spinach and butter sauce, and confit of duck with celeriac and apple purée. Puddings span everything from apple and blackberry crumble to saffron poached pear with orange and cardamom ice cream, and the keenly price wine list leads off with a varied selection by the glass. Note: no bookings evenings and weekends.
