Review on La Gran Tortuga
La Gran Tortuga Restaurant (The Great Turtle) has been plying its trade in Paguera for over 30 years and being one of the first top notch restaurants on Mallorca, got to choose one of the best locations so the views are delightful over the bay of Paguera.
Agustin Duran runs front of house and ensures that the service never lacks while head chef Antonio Soriano mans the stoves running through a repertoire of classic recipes and modern Mediterranean dishes.
No trip to Mallorca is complete without trying the famous lobster casserole 'Caldereta de Langosta' (see images) and this is certainly a restaurant to give it a go with the lobster straight from the aquarium. Elsewhere on the menu look for 'prize winning' tapas, terrine of home-made duck foie gras, cod cutlet gratinated with garlic sauce and honey and salt baked Sea Bass. If the whole table agrees then go for the 5 course surprise tasting menu.
The temperature controlled wine cellar is famous in its own right and stocks an awesome selection of Spanish wines from all regions
