Review on Carré Des Feuillants
Carré Des Feuillants is a sophisticated and elegant restaurant built on the site of the former Feuillants convent. Located very close to the fashionable Place Vendôme, it is owned by the famous chef Alain Dutournier and this haute cuisine restaurant has been awarded two Michelin stars. Designed by Alberto Bali, the four dining rooms have been decorated in tones of off-white, black and beige in a simple and minimalist style, with bare wood floors, Venetian glass chandeliers and trompe l'oeil wood panelling. They overlook a pretty interior courtyard full of flowers and a glass enclosed kitchen and there is an historical wine cellar which can also be used for private functions.
Dutournier's creative menu using only authentic ingredients from his home region has starters such as crayfish, foie fras and veal sweetbreads in jelly with celery and black truffle or native arcachon oysters and ink fish ravioli. Inventive main courses follow with young partridge encased in hazelnuts, chasselas grape juice, creamy roots and alba truffle or wild turbot, caviar, broccoli semolina and squid ink rice. Desserts finish the show with pear poached in Lapsang Souchong tea and salted toffee ice cream or caramelized figs and ginger served with walnut crisp.
Alain Detournier has a passion for wine, so wine buffs are in for a treat as his cellars hold some 3,000 bins, including fine vintages from great producers and the very best French wine regions.
