Review on Kei
Kei opened its doors in 2011 in the Les Halles, the 1st arrondissement of Paris, set in the former premises occupied by Gérard Besson. The restaurant has an elegant décor in shades of grey and silver, tables are well-laid with crisp linen set against Louis XV-style armchairs.
Japanese chef proprietor is Kei Kobayashi, who has honed his considerable skills under the guidance of several Michelin starred chefs, including working seven years with Alain Ducasse. It has certainly paid off, Kei has been awarded his own prestigious Michelin star for his creative modern French dishes with Japanese influences. Dishes such as salmon with a bitter sorrel and seared veal chop with eggplant caviar and herbs are displayed with great artistry on the plate, and the vaulted wine cellar offers exceptional wines to complement the menu.
