Review on Le Buisson Ardent
Le Buisson Ardent restaurant, a former coaching house, is a delightful French bistro located in the heart of the 5th arrondissement and it has retained the décor of the 1920's with wood panelling, traditional banquettes, antique lighting and beautiful wall frescoes which date back to 1925. This is a very cosy restaurant with a lovely bistro atmosphere, good service and fine food.
The kitchen produces a tantalising menu of classic French cuisine and typical offerings for the entrées could be home made smoked salmon, roasted zucchini with thyme and lemon, saffron mousse or country style terrine, lentils with granny cider vinegar. Main courses follow the theme with fillet of rascasse fish, artichokes and mushrooms stuffed and braised with tomato and basil or Normandy sirloin steak, grilled chickpea pancake, white cheese and onion. There's a ripened cheese platter with a herb salad and hazelnut oil and the delicious desserts could include pear and rhubarb crumble with Sichuan pepper mousse or strawberry tiramisu.
There is an excellent set menu that is very good value, a blackboard menu for the daily specials and a short select wine list.
