Review on Mavrommatis
Mavrommatis is a Greek restaurant very close to Jardin des Plants in the 5th district of Paris and it's the flagship restaurant of a chain of Mediterranean eateries in Paris owned by the Movrommatis brothers. Regarded as one of the best Greek restaurants in the city, Andréas Mavrommatis is in charge of the kitchen and is responsible for the exceptional quality of the cuisine.
Mavrommatis is an elegant dining room with a plain wood floor, crisp linen-clad tables, smart drapes at the large windows and pictures of Greece adorning the walls. The terrace is a pretty affair with its potted plants and is a lovely place to linger over your meal in the summer. The kitchen puts on its Mediterranean garb for a menu that might kick off with traditional dishes, such as stuffed vine leaves, but there are more inventive options such as thinly sliced seared tuna with spices and smoked aubergine or prawns sautéed in ouzo with tomato marmalade and fennel. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and there's a good choice of fixed price menus and a nice selection of Greek wines to go with them.
