Review on Il Vino d'Enrico Bernardo
Il Vino de Enrico Bernardo is a modern concept restaurant located on a quiet street behind Les Invalides, a short stroll from the Eiffel Tower, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. The unusual idea behind the restaurant comes from the restaurant's namesake, Enrico Bernardo who at the age of 27 was awarded the title of The Best Sommelier of the World in 2004. In this innovative restaurant you are presented with a wine menu where you will select your wines by the glass for each course and the sommeliers, they are not called waiters here, bring you the appropriate food to go with them.
Enrico has selected some of the best wines worldwide and there are over 1500 references. There is an a la carte menu with some thirteen wines and the prices include an accompanying dish together with six set menus, from a lunchtime menu to a bank breaking evening prestige menu at 1000€. The menus and wines at this Michelin starred restaurant are changed weekly to reflect seasonal produce and Enrico's current vinous interests. Davide Bariloni is the talented chef that creates the Mediterranean dishes to compliment the wine. Following on from the success of this restaurant Bernardo has opened a similar restaurant in Courchevel in Savoy.
