Review on 114 Faubourg
The 114 Faubourg restaurant is set in the Le Bristol hotel in the heart of the city's most elegant shopping district and within walking distance of the Champs Élysées. It has its own entrance on the ground floor in the new wing of the hotel and the cooking concept is that of a brasserie-rotisserie. Created by interior designer Daniel Patzelt and Guendalina Litta Modignani the restaurant is located on two levels, linked by an elegant black wrought iron staircase entwined with gold leaves. The walls have orange panels featuring large coloured dahlias, which are the hotel's emblem and black banquettes and chairs, set the scene in this contemporary dining room.
Jean-Charles Cauquil is the chef that leads the kitchen under the direction of Michelin starred chef Eric Frechon. The cuisine is creative and authentic and you can choose either meat or fish to be griddled, steamed or for large pieces, spit roasted. Among the starters look for thinly sliced fresh tuna just cooked, soya and ginger vinaigrette dressing or peppered artichoke soup and truffle emulsion. Follow on with roasted scallops and a pasta risotto with white truffle or "Black Angus" entrecôte with traditional Béarnaise sauce. For desserts try their delicious Bourbon vanilla millefeuille with a touch of salty caramel and ice cream or maybe the spit-roast pineapple, passion fruit and banana sorbet. There is an international wine list chosen by Sommelier Marco Pelletier.
Also located in the hotel is their three starred Michelin gourmet restaurant, which changes its surroundings according to the seasons of summer and winter.
