Review on Market
Market, serving fusion cuisine is to be found in the Avenue Matignon, near the Champs Elysées, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris is part of the world renowned Jean-Georges Vongerichten stable of restaurants and it's his first Parisian venture. It was designed by minimalist interior designer Christian Liaigre and features elegant beige banquettes and chairs with light wood tables, soft lighting and tribal sculptures from Africa and Polynesia. Large bay windows open onto a lovely interior courtyard for summertime dining. There is also a raw bar in the restaurant serving oysters, fish carpaccios and other uncooked delicacies.
To kick start proceedings, try the sharing platter for two called "black plate" consisting of shrimp satay, crab roll, tuna roll, lobster daikon and quail with thai spices. There are also a choice of three pizzas on the menu, tuna with cream of wasabi, black truffle and fontina or the more traditional mozzarella, parmesan and marinated tomatoes. Main courses take in John Dory with baby artichokes and smoked paprika or rib of beef, soy beans, parmesan and fresh almonds. For dessert try lemon and rosemary macaroon with kumquat ice cream or a spicy chocolate tart. The wine list is an international slate featuring a good spread from across the world.
