Review on Lynedoch Brasserie at Murrayshall Country House Hotel
A Mecca for golfers, with two championship courses, Murrayshall is one of those imposing Scottish country houses standing in sumptuous grounds at the heart of a 350-acre estate. It's also a perennial favourite for conferences and special occasions.
The elegantly refurbished Lynedoch Brasserie has splendid views of the Grampians and makes a fine setting for cooking with an Anglo-French slant. Scottish ingredients are used to good effect in dishes such as a pan-seared Oban scallop with its own parfait and citrus dressing, pheasant terrine with braised red onion, and char-grilled Aberdeen Angus fillet with white wine, beans and pancetta. To finish, try glazed poached pear with chocolate and praline mousse or wait 12 minutes for a hot mango soufflé. Light meals are served in the bar and the clubhouse café.
