Review on The Spice Room
'A hidden gem,' according to one enthusiastic Mobile Food Guide reporter, the Spice Room is part of IMADA - a livewire local health and fitness centre, squash club and dance academy (the acronym stands for 'I've Made A Decision Already').
It sounds like an odd setting for a contemporary Indian restaurant, but the Spice Room does the business against a backdrop of groovy wallpaper, ultra-modern designer furniture and highly polished woodwork. The whole place swings, and it's just the ticket for a lively, fun-loving crowd.
The long menu is tailored to suit all palates and preferences, with ample choice for carnivores and vegetarians alike. Start with chilli chicken, tandoori salmon or aloo tikki (spiced potato patties topped with tamarind, yoghurt and mint chutneys). Mains range from familiar biryanis and vindaloos to signature dishes such as Keralan-style prawns with peanut rice and vegetable jalfrezi.
If you want to hire the Spice Room for private bash, IMADA will provide professional Bollywood, Arabic and Latino dancers to make the party go with a bang.
