Review on Pierhouse Hotel & Seafood Restaurant
You can arrive at The Pierhouse by sea if you're so inclined, since it has its own moorings at the south end of the pier (Apr-Oct only). The building itself was once home to the local Pier Master and is perched on the shores of Loch Linnhe at the end of a twisty single-track road. From the terrace you can gaze out towards the Morvern Hills, Lismore and Shuna.
The awarding-winning Seafood Restaurant is undoubtedly the main attraction here and it makes the most of the catch from the local boats. One glance at the menu tells its own story: here you can feast on huge langoustines with crusty bread and cucumber mayo, oysters from the clear waters of Lismore, fillet of herring marinated in whisky or brochettes of monkfish with roasted peppers and chilli jam; alternatively share one of the giant mixed seafood platters.
Meat eaters also get a look-in with beef Stroganoff, char-grilled Scotch sirloin steak and pan-fried saddle of Highland venison with glazed onions, port and bramble sauce. Traditional puddings, ice creams and sorbets should satisfy those with a sweet tooth.
