Located in Diamond Cove on Great Diamond Island, Diamond's Edge Restaurant & Marina is operating under new ownership for the 2011 season.
A rustic, yet elegant fine dining restaurant, Diamond's Edge serves local fare, fresh seafood and a raw bar. Open May 21 - October 17, we invite you to come out and enjoy a memorable culinary experience from notable Executive Chef Justin Rowe.
The beauty and experience of the restaurant and the cove is due in large part to the history of the island. Initially an artistic retreat community that hosted visitors including Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Harriet Beecher Stowe, Diamond Cove was converted almost entirely to a military base to defend Casco Bay at the time of the Spanish-American War.
Known as Fort McKinely, the buildings were constructed between 1891 and 1907 and remained in active use until shortly after the end of WWII in 1945. Today the buildings are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
