Review on Florian
For a dozen years brother and sister team Katharina Wendlandt and Florian Billig have been running their dream restaurant, Florian on the sea front in Porto Colom, a delightful town on the east coast of Mallorca. Inside the restaurant provides a showcase for local artists while outside on the terrace the stunning natural harbour provides the backdrop to Florian's contemporary Mediterranean cuisine.
Go there for the dish that made them famous: fried goat's cheese in fine puff pastry with seasonal fruits, strawberry sauce and "magic sauce" reduction of balsamic vinegar. Otherwise the menu meanders through lunchtime tapas and favourite dishes such as turbot fillet with pumpkin ginger risott, saddle of lamb with Parmesan crust and Mediterranean vegetables and john dory fillet with gazpacho crust and creamy polenta. As a finale, expect controlled fireworks in the shape of chocolate and ginger parfait, homemade passion fruit sherbet and cream Catalan.
