Review on Roland Restaurant
Roland Restaurant can be found on a pedestrianised street in the peaceful town of Porto Cristo on the eastern side of Mallorca, a short stroll from the harbour. The interior has a smart contemporary dιcor with well-laid tables and a small terrace for al fresco dining during the summer months.
The restaurant which opened in May 2011 takes its name from chef patron Roland Schulte, who has plied his trade for a number of years on the island at illustrious establishments such as the luxurious La Reserva Rotana in Manacor, and more recently as Director and Chef at Cap Vermell Beach Hotel in Canyamel.
Schulte is dedicated to the seasonality of ingredients serving creative flavours in his menus, using the finest local and regional produce. Typical starters on the carte are beef carpaccio with pesto and parmesan cheese or fried scallops with couli flower mousse and beetroot salad. Main courses take in fillet of sea bass with tandoori vegetables and green curry sauce, or Majorcan duck with Savoy cabbage and potato gratin. To finish there are prettily displayed desserts in the shape of chocolate cake with cherry ice cream and vanilla foam or strawberry gratin with Tonka bean ice cream.
